GMC Srinagar to host 2-day national-level conference on hernia from Friday

Srinagar, July 10: The Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar is hosting a two-day national-level conference with the first day on Friday being a live operative workshop on every type of hernia.

The conference will be conducted at the Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, GMC Srinagar by the Hernia Society of India, the largest body of hernia surgeons in India.

It is a national-level conference with a theme based on the concept of comprehensive care for every type of hernia, emphasising on latest minimal access techniques and peritoneal flap techniques and complex hernias.

The event is organised by GMC Srinagar under the patronage of PMC and Dean Prof Iffat Hassan Shah, Prof Iqbal Saleem Mir, HOD Surgery as Organising Chairperson, Prof M R Attri is the Organising Secretary of the event.

The event would be a two-day national conference, with the first day being a live operative workshop, whereby stalwarts of minimal access hernia surgeons would perform more than a dozen surgeries for both complicated and uncomplicated hernias.

Secretary of Health and Medical Education Syed Abid Rashid Shah would be the chief guest at the event.

The event brings together a galaxy of star surgeons across the length and breadth of the country, including Padam Shree Pradeep Chowbey, Chairman Max Hospital Delhi, Dr Vijay Borgaonkar, President HSI, Dr Sarfaraz Baig, Secretary HSI, Dr Sumeet Shah, Dr Rajesh Khullar, Dr Ganesh Shenoy and various other legends of surgical craft.

The event represents a tremendous opportunity for the surgeons across J&K, especially youngsters to hone the craft and learn from the masters as well for the patients who would directly and indirectly benefit from the event.
