GMC Baramulla organises CPR awareness prog
Baramulla, Dec 6: The Associated Hospital Government Medical College Baramulla, on Wednesday organised one-day Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) awareness programme.
The event, was organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and saw an impressive turnout of approximately 150 participants.
On this occasion, the Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr (Prof) Ruby Reshi, said that the programme was aimed to focus on the critical importance of acquiring basic life-saving skills for individuals both within and outside the medical field.
She emphasised the universal significance of learning CPR, highlighting its potential to save lives and make a lasting impact in emergency situations.
The Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, played key role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme by providing necessary infrastructure and manpower.
The event started off with an online address by NBEMS President Dr Abhijat Sheth, who reiterated the importance of learning CPR to prevent young cardiac deaths.
National-level experts, Dr Sanjeev Mittal and Dr Debasis Dhar from NBEMS, demonstrated CPR techniques online, followed by hands-on training for the participants.
The experts at GMC Baramulla, including Dr Afak Sherwani and Dr Yasir Bashir, enriched participants with comprehensive presentations on Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, expanding their knowledge and understanding of life-saving techniques.
The Principal GMC, Baramulla, expressed gratitude towards NBEMS for their support and collaboration, highlighting the commitment of Government Medical College Baramulla to fostering a culture of preparedness.
The hospital plans to regularly organise Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Awareness programmes for all employees, especially newcomers, to equip them with essential life-saving skills.
The participants were awarded digital certificates of participation endorsed by NBEMS, marking the successful completion of the event.
Dr Waseem Iqbal, Assistant Professor Pediatrics and Nodal Officer DNB Courses GMC Baramulla, efficiently coordinated the programme, ensuring its smooth execution and providing practical knowledge to handle emergency situations effectively.
