GMC Baramulla conducts basic course in medical education
Baramulla, Nov 28: A three days basic course in medical education (BCME) programme was held at Government Medical College Baramulla.
The BCME programme was conducted by the Medical Education Unit of GMC Baramulla. The programme is part of the faculty development programme and is mandated by the NMC.
In this workshop a total of 30 faculty members and senior resident doctors from GMC Doda and GMC Baramulla participated.
The workshop was inaugurated by Principal GMC Baramulla Prof (Dr) Ruby Reshi and was coordinated by Dr Vinay Sharma, Prof Department of Anatomy, Muzaffarnagar Medical College. Dr Vinay Sharma was appointed by NMC as BCME Coordinator.
The 3 day workshop included a number of interactive sessions on CBME, innovative teaching learning methods as well as new assessment methods in medical education.
The resource faculty were the members of MEU, GMC Baramulla who have been trained from Regional Centre HIMS Dehradun.
The coordinator MEU, GMC Baramulla, Dr Tajamul Hussain, while speaking about the programme said, "The BCME workshop is mandatory for all faculty members as per New NMC guidelines and also a prerequisite for faculty promotions."
"Earlier the faculty had to go outside the UT to attend these workshops but now that all MEU members of GMC Baramulla have been trained from the Regional Centre,the NMC has given permission to conduct In House BCME for other faculty," added Dr Tajamul Hussain.
Notably, three of the faculty members of GMC Baramulla have also completed Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME) from CMC Ludhiana.
The GMC Baramulla is the first among the new medical colleges of J&K to conduct in-house BCME workshop.
