GMC Anantnag organises CME on ‘Upper GI Tract Malignancies - A Multidisciplinary Perspective’
Anantnag, Nov 12: The Department of Radiation Oncology, Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, on Wednesday organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on ‘Upper GI Tract Malignancies – A Multidisciplinary Perspective.’
A statement of GMC Anantnag issued here said that under the patronage of Principal Prof Rukhsana Najeeb, the academic event aimed to provide a comprehensive insight into upper gastrointestinal cancers, highlighting the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment modalities, and coordinated multidisciplinary management.
Head, Department of Radiation Oncology, GMC Anantnag, Dr Shahid Bashir Wani, delivered the opening lecture on ‘Overview, Statistics, and Prospects of Upper GI Malignancies,’ setting the stage for an engaging scientific exchange.
The CME brought together eminent experts and chairpersons from reputed medical institutions.
Among the key speakers were former Professor and Head, Radiation Oncology, SKIMS and GMC Anantnag, Prof Muhammad Ashraf, who spoke on ‘Spectrum and Assessment of Risk Factors in Upper GI Cancers.’
Head, Radiodiagnosis, GMC Anantnag, Dr Mir Saiqa Shafi, deliberated on ‘Role of Radiology in Diagnosis of Upper GI Cancers.’
Former Professor, Medical Oncology (SKIMS), Prof Shad Salim Akhter, discussed ‘Emerging Chemotherapy Trends in Upper GI Cancers.’
Head, Radiation Oncology, SKIMS Soura, Dr Malik Tariq Rasool, elaborated on ‘Role of Radiation in Treatment of Upper GI Cancers.’
Head, General Medicine, GMC Anantnag, Dr Mashkoor Ahmad Beigh, presented on ‘Early Management of Upper GI Cancers.’
Consultant Medical Oncologist, Paras Hospital, Dr Saqib Ahmad Shah, led a ‘Case Presentation and Discussion.’
Associate Professor, General Surgery, GMC Anantnag, Dr Khalid Basheer, discussed ‘Surgical Management in Upper GI Malignancies.’
Associate Professor and Head, Pathology, GMC Anantnag, Dr Shuaeb Bhat, spoke on ‘Histopathological Aspects to Look for in Upper GI Malignancies.’
Former Professor, GMC Srinagar, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Naqash, presented on ‘Radiation as a Cornerstone in Palliative Treatments of Upper GI Cancers.’
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology, GMC Anantnag, Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmad Dar.
The CME was attended by the Principal and Dean, GMC Anantnag, Prof Rukhsana Najeeb, and Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Naqash, who served as Chief Advisor to the programme.
Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospitals GMC Anantnag, Dr Arshad, was also present as the special guest.
