GMC Anantnag gets advanced endoscopic workstation
Anantnag, Dec 26: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has installed a state-of-the-art endoscopic gastro workstation in the department of General Medicine.
The facility was inaugurated by the Principal and Dean of GMC Anantnag Dr Rukhsana Najeeb.
Dr Mashkoor Ahmad Beigh, Head of the General Medicine Department and a specialist in gastroenterology, revealed that GMC Anantnag workstation is expected to revolutionise gastroenterological diagnostics and treatment in south Kashmir.
“The cutting-edge facility will enable us to provide critical procedures such as ERCP, polypectomy for early cancer detection, and the management of upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding. This is a major relief for the people of south Kashmir and the Peer Panjal region, especially for underprivileged patients who can now access these services closer to home,” said Dr Beigh.
Dr. Beigh expressed his gratitude to the Principal for her instrumental role in making the project a reality.
Dr Najeeb congratulated the people of south Kashmir for receiving this much-needed facility and emphasised her commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure at GMC Anantnag.
“Efforts are underway to operationalise the biomedical engineering wing at GMC Anantnag at the earliest,” she said.
The installation of the gastro endoscopic workstation is particularly significant given the high incidence of gastric and colonic cancers in the region.
With two DM gastroenterologists now serving at GMC Anantnag, the availability of advanced procedures will greatly enhance patient care and solidify the institution’s standing as a leading medical college in the country.
