GK IMPACT | Paediatrician appointed at SDH Uri
Srinagar, Dec 8: A week after Greater Kashmir reported that locals of border town Uri demand availability of paediatricians at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri, the government has now appointed a paediatrician at the hospital.
In an order issued by the Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Medical Officer (MO) Mukhtar Ahmad has been posted at SDH Uri.
Dr Balwinder Singh, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Uri expressed his gratitude to the higher authorities for the appointment of the doctor at the hospital.
“It was a pending demand of the locals and finally it has been fulfilled by higher ups. I am thankful to all the senior officials of our department who made this possible,” he told Greater Kashmir.
He added that people of the border town will get relief now at SDH Uri while visiting the hospital for the check-up of their kids. “Since he is the local of Uri, the doctor will be available round the week for the children,” the BMO said.
Earlier, locals of Uri had complained that two paediatricians were available at hospital for only four days in a week, which has taken a toll on the children's healthcare in the remote town.
