GIF-NIT Srinagar signs MoU with MSME-TDC to boost entrepreneurship, skill development
Srinagar, Jul 19: The Greenovator Incubation Foundation (GIF) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MSME Technology Development Centre (Process and Product Development Centre), an autonomous body under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
The partnership aims to strengthen entrepreneurship and skill development among youth and aspiring innovators across Jammu and Kashmir.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will jointly design and deliver training programs, product development initiatives, prototyping projects, and incubation activities. The collaboration also includes shared use of infrastructure, technical support, and mentorship opportunities for emerging startups.
Selected participants will benefit from access to co-working spaces, expert guidance, and support in product commercialisation. Quarterly review meetings and regular resource exchange have been planned to ensure steady progress and mutual learning.
The agreement further opens the laboratories and technical facilities of both institutions to unemployed youth and students from various academic backgrounds, encouraging hands-on learning and early-stage venture development.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Shahid Abbas Mir (CEO, GIF-NIT Srinagar), Dr. Ashwin Dhivakar (Assistant Director, MSME-TDC Extension Centre, Srinagar), Ajaz Hussain (Faculty/Nodal Officer, ESDP, MSME-TDC), Waseem Ahmad Mir (Data Entry Operator, GIF), and Irshad Gani (Office Administrator, MSME-TDC).
Welcoming the collaboration, NIT Srinagar Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia said, “This partnership reaffirms our commitment to fostering an innovation-led ecosystem that empowers the youth of Jammu and Kashmir through skill development and entrepreneurial opportunity.”
Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman added, “This MoU connects academic learning with real-world application. We are dedicated to nurturing job creators, not just job seekers.”
