GDC Kunjwani, NCB Jammu hold awareness rally against drug abuse
Jammu, Jun 29: Nasha Mukt Committee and NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Kunjwani in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu zonal unit, in a show of solidarity and public engagement, organised an awareness rally against drug abuse.
Students, faculty, and members of the NCB actively participated in the rally carrying placards and chanting slogans to encourage the community to stay away from drugs.
The rally was among a series of activities organised by the Nasha Mukt Committee and NSS Unit of GDC Kunjwani to observe ëInternational Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Traffickingí on June 26 under the leadership of the principal of the college, Prof Baljinder Kaur.
The events aimed at raising awareness among the students about the growing menace of substance abuse and promoting a healthy and addiction-free life.
Among the activities included an essay writing competition on the theme ëDrug abuse and its effects on families and society.í
Students from different streams enthusiastically participated, presenting their thoughts and perspectives on the theme while calling for collective action to curb the menace.
Following it, an awareness Lecture was delivered by Harnam Singh, a retired headmaster and a senior citizen of Mansarovar Colony.
In his lecture, he talked about the psychological, physical and social consequences of drug addiction. Students actively engaged in meaningful discussion and also raised relevant questions about the prevention and rehabilitation of drug users.
The programme concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony where all the participants vowed to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a healthier society.
Earlier, the principal lauded the facultyís efforts in organising this event.
She also emphasised the crucial role of awareness in preventing substance among youth.
