GDC Ganderbal celebrates International Women’s Day
Srinagar, Mar 8: A special function was organised at Government Degree College, Ganderbal, on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day.
Litigation specialist Advocate Syed Irfan and senior national women’s cricket team coach and physical instructor, Youth Services and Sports Sayima Rashid were the resource persons at the programme organised by the Women’s Development Cell in collaboration with Equal Opportunity Cell of the College.
Convener, Women’s Development Cell, Shabana Aslam introduced the programme as an initiative to create awareness about the rights of women.
It was followed by the felicitation of guests and a special address by the college principal, Prof Fouzia Fatima.
Stressing the need and importance of recognising one’s rights and duties, Prof Fatima urged the students to be highly disciplined to achieve their goals in life.
Advocate Rizvi highlighted various laws related to the rights of women and emphasized the role of men in promoting women’s empowerment.
Sayima Rashid narrated her experiences as a woman who faced various challenges but continued to pursue her goals with dedication.
Mehak Roman, a college student, moderated the programme, where a book authored by Prof Qurat and Prof Qudsia Gani was also released.
Assistant Professor, English, Prof Mehvish Syed delivered the vote of thanks.
