GDA, NLCO join hands to conduct cleanliness drive

Srinagar, Aug 13: In a concerted effort to preserve the pristine beauty of Gulmarg , the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) and the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) successfully organised a comprehensive cleanliness drive, plantation initiative, and sanitisation campaign.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Bilaliya Education Institutions, who were also instrumental in these drives.

Gracing the occasion, the CEO of GDA, Waseem Raja, extended his appreciation to the students for their active involvement and presented them with felicitations. Chairman of NLCO, Manzoor Wangnoo, emphasised the crucial role of community participation in environmental conservation.

SHO Gulmarg, Dr Haroon, highlighted the significance of creating awareness about environmental protection in such ecologically sensitive areas. Renowned socio-environmental activist Dr Touseef Ahmed provided valuable insights to students and volunteers on the principles of sustainability, while Peerzada Fayaz Convenor JKL Responsible  Society of India (RTSOI )underscored the responsibilities of tourists in preserving the region’s natural heritage.

The joint initiative by NLCO and GDA underscores their commitment to safeguarding the environment and promoting eco-friendly practices in Gulmarg. The event served as a platform to educate and inspire the younger generation to become active participants in environmental conservation efforts.

The chairman NLCO also thanked Gulmarg Municipality, Forest Dept, Cable Car and stakeholders for their role and all the stockholders as well. He also thanked Dr Touseef for wonderfully coordinating the event, active participation and support.
