GDA denies allegations of delayed response to hotel fire
Srinagar, Feb 28: Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) on Wednesday evening refuted 'claims made my many media platforms', alleging that fire fighters were late to the spot where a hotel was partially damaged in a blaze earlier today in Gulmarg.
An official statement by the GDA said that some locals are seen throwing snowballs at the fire, "which is unfortunate and undermines the stupendous efforts of fire services and local administration."
The statement mentions that amid challenging circumstances and timely efforts not only were the men from fire department able to control the fire but they were also successful in minimizing the damage.
Two fire tenders one each from Tangmarg and Kunzar were also sent as reinforcement, the statement said.
It said that the officials from civil administration including GDA, Municipality, Jal Shakti were asked to remain proactive until the fire was doused off completely.
It said that to ensure compliance to fires safety protocols so incidents of fire could be avoided, a team of Fire Service department and GDA shall undertake a fire audit of all hotels and other structures in Gulmarg from tomorrow.
