GCC urges administration to restore services in flood-hit areas

Srinagar, Sep 3: In view of the massive devastation caused by floods in Jammu Division, Jammu city in particular, the Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) J&K has appealed the LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for immediate repair and restoration of the damaged power and water supply infrastructure to ease out the affected public and to provide them adequate relief and rehabilitation support .

The Group has asked for immediate dewatering of the water- logged areas in cities and towns in Jammu division to enable people resume their normal work,said a press release.

In view of continuous rains in Kashmir Division since last night and rising water levels in Jhelum, its tributaries and other streams , the GCC has appealed the administration to take all measures necessary to protect life and property in the event of floods, it added.
