Srinagar, Aug 10: The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) convened in Srinagar to voice deep concern over the recent seizure of rotten meat in Kashmir, calling it a “grave public health hazard.”

GCC Chairman Khurshid Ahmed Ganai (Retd IAS, former Advisor to the Governor, J&K) demanded a thorough probe to expose the network behind the alleged racket.

He urged strict monitoring of all meat imports at entry points, including Lakhanpur, and immediate tightening of checks by municipal bodies and the Food Safety Department.

Ganai stressed that the police must act swiftly to bring these “anti-social profiteers of public misery” to justice.
