Srinagar, Oct 24: In a significant achievement Government Boys Higher Secondary School(GBHSS), Zainakote Srinagar has been honoured with the prestigious 5th National Water Award for 2023, receiving a special mention for its exemplary and outstanding efforts in water conservation and Management at Vigyan bawan New Delhi.

The award was received by Principal of the School, Ali Muhammad Rather and Lecturer Environmental Science Nyla Ali.

The award was given by the Union Minister for Jal Shakti C. R Patil at New Delhi.

This recognition holds even greater significance as GBHSS Zainakote is the only Educational Institution in Jammu & Kashmir to receive this prestigious award and the fourth in the entire Country to earn such a distinction hence bringing laurels to Jammu and Kashmir especially Department of School Education by receiving this National Award.

This achievement is the outcome of dedication and collaboration among the Staff and Students From the micro to macro contributions, everyone played an integral role in making this project a reality.

This Environmental project was led by Nyla Ali Lecturer Environmental Science and the team leader of Eco Club of the School.

With the tireless efforts and innovative ideas the entire school marched ahead with zeal and zest, from organizing rainwater harvesting systems, organising awareness campaigns,engaging with locals and eliminating the water waste all the efforts were truly transformational.

The award also recognized the wholehearted support from every member of the institution, from the Multi tasking Staff (MTS) to the Head of Institution (HOI), each of whom played an invaluable role in ensuring the success of our conservation projects.Their contributions, whether in logistical support, participation in initiatives, or providing moral encouragement were essential to the positive outcome.
