Gates of Salal dam in Reasi opened

Jammu, May 9: Following Baglihar dam, multiple gates of Salal dam over river Chenab in Reasi district too have been opened due to increased water level. As per authorities, in case of Salal dam, three gates were opened on May 8 evening to manage overflow.

Earlier on May 8 morning, multiple gates of Baglihar dam over river Chenab in Ramban were opened after heavy rainfall leading to a significant rise in water levels. The controlled release of water is part of a precautionary measure to manage overflow and ensure structural safety.

Authorities at both the places have alerted the residents downstream to stay cautious and remain away from the river as the discharge may raise water levels in the Chenab.
