GASS welcomes Amaranth Yatris
Srinagar, June 28: Welcoming the Amarnath Yatris, the Greater Aishmuqam Sufi Society (GASS) Friday termed it as a divine opportunity to celebrate the syncretic bonhomie rooted deep in the traditions of Kashmiris for centuries.
A statement of GASS issued here said that the bonhomie had been the hallmark of the true traditional spirit of Kashmiriyat.
The members of GASS urged the people to facilitate the yatris at all routes and destinations unconditionally to set an example of hospitality and accommodative culture.
They also appealed to the youth to help the yatris all along the yatra route in case of any emergency or unfavourable weather conditions.
Sofi Sajad of GASS while remembering the fervour of the yatra three decades back expressed hope that the same atmosphere of mutual love and harmony would prevail and create a benchmark for the entire world to follow.
Muhammad Yaqoob of GASS also termed Kashmir as the best example of harmony and multi-faith unity saying that this could be copied and practiced by the entire world.
