Gangtok to Host 13th International Tourism Mart for North East from November 13
New Delhi, Nov 12: The Ministry of Tourism will organise the 13th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) in Gangtok, Sikkim, from November 13 to 16, 2025. The event will be inaugurated by Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in the presence of Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and Tourism Ministers from the North Eastern states. The Mart, a flagship annual event of the Ministry, aims to showcase the tourism potential of India’s North East, known as the “Ashta Lakshmi” region, to domestic and global audiences.
The 2025 edition emphasizes eco-tourism, culture, adventure, and wellness travel, in line with the Ministry’s Travel for Life initiative.
Over 39 international tour operators, 50 domestic buyers, and representatives from 19 countries including Spain, Thailand, France, and Vietnam will participate. The event will feature B2B meetings, panel discussions, and cultural showcases highlighting the region’s rich heritage, crafts, and performing arts. Technical sessions will focus on cinematic tourism, homestays, youth entrepreneurship, sustainability, and digital innovation. Participants will also visit key sites around Gangtok such as Rumtek Monastery, Do Drul Chorten, and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. With Sikkim’s reputation as a model for sustainable tourism, the ITM highlight the Government’s commitment to positioning the North East as a global tourism hub blending natural beauty, cultural vibrancy, and responsible travel.
