Ganderbal, Feb 17: Ganderbal police have secured conviction in three important cases over the past one week.

Addressing a press conference, SSP Ganderbal, Raghav S, claimed that police achieved exceptional success in crime prevention and public safety and highlighted that the police secured convictions in three important cases in the past one week.

The SSP said that the police secured convictions for three cases involving serious crimes like kidnapping, rape and NDPS.

“First case is of FIR 67/2016, 363, 376 RPC at police station Kangan involving the kidnapping and rape. In this case the convict was awarded 14 years of imprisonment including 7 years for the crime under 363 and 7 years for 376 and a fine of Rs 10000 and 25000 respectively,” SSP said.

He said the sentence will run concurrently. Similarly in second case FIR number 136/2019 at police station Ganderbal under POSCO involving the kidnapping and rape the convict has been awarded “a rigorous imprisonment of 20 years and 7 years for kidnapping and the sentence will run separately which means it will be a 27 years of imprisonment.” SSP said that in the third case the conviction has been secured in four months with the accused awarded imprisonment of 6 months.

The SSP said that during the trials charges were framed against the accused in all cases. “After the court found sufficient materials on record and was satisfied with the prosecution after which the Court passed the verdict.”

The SSP hailed the police teams including the investigation and prosecution teams for their professional conduct.
