Ganderbal Police conduct X-ray scanning of courier parcels to curb drug trafficking

Ganderbal, Oct 16: In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking and promote a drug-free society, Ganderbal Police, in collaboration with CRPF 115 Battalion, the Excise Department, Revenue Department, Security Kashmir’s X-Ray Baggage Van Team, and the Anti-Smuggling Team (AST) Ganderbal, conducted a special joint checking drive at Pandach.

During the operation, all vehicles, courier parcels, and baggage passing through the checkpoint were meticulously scanned using advanced X-ray equipment to detect any concealed contraband or narcotic substances. Officials said the drive was aimed at preventing the transportation of drugs through courier services or other means.

“The multi-agency coordinated operation reflects the commitment of J&K Police towards strengthening inter-departmental cooperation and ensuring that drug traffickers find no safe passage through the district,” a senior police official said.

Authorities added that the district police will continue to conduct such intensified checking and surveillance drives at all entry and exit points to safeguard the community from the drug menace.
