Ganderbal Judokas shine at North Zone Khelo India Women's League

Srinagar, Aug 10: Two young judokas from the Khelo India Judo Centre in Ganderbal, have delivered outstanding performances at the North Zone Khelo India Women's League held in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Anjum Akhtar and Aysha Hassan, both representing the Ganderbal centre, secured gold medals in their respective weight categories. Akhtar clinched the top spot in the 57kg category, while Hassan emerged victorious in the 52kg division.

Their remarkable achievements have brought pride to J&K and highlighted the success of the Khelo India program in nurturing sporting talent.

In recognition of their exceptional performance, both athletes were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 each. This financial incentive serves not only as a reward for their current success but also as encouragement for their future endeavors in the sport.

The parents of the young judokas expressed their gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for providing a valuable platform for their wards to excel in sports. This sentiment underscores the positive impact of initiatives like the Khelo India program in fostering sporting talent at the grassroots level.
