Wild animals on prowl in Ganderbal

The residents of Ganderbal district are living in constant fear due to the increased movement of wild animals, particularly leopards in various areas of the district during the past few weeks. The wild animals, particularly leopards, are on the prowl in many areas of Ganderbal. Locals said that they were under the threat of attacks and fear moving out of their homes. The lives of children, who want to play outside, are also in danger. An official of the Wildlife Department said that they had set up many rescue teams and whenever they get information from any area regarding the movement of wild animals, the team rushes to the place and tries to tranquilise the animal as soon as possible.

Gund faces absence of waste collection vehicles

The absence of garbage collection vehicles provided by the Rural Development Department Block Gund in Ganderbal is causing inconvenience to the local residents of tehsil Gund in Ganderbal district. Residents said despite paying a monthly fee for waste collection, lack of these vehicles has led to a proliferation of waste on roadsides and unauthorised areas.

Residents and business owners are distressed by the adverse environmental impacts resulting from the negligence, with streets and public spaces becoming inundated with discarded garbage. Hotel proprietors said they are facing mounting issues in absence of garbage collection services. They urged authorities to ensure the garbage collection vehicles arrive regularly without causing inconvenience to them.
