Consumers complain of inflated power bills
The consumers from various parts of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district complained they have received inflated power bills. The consumers are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for “inflated” electricity bills terming it injustice with them.
The residents alleged that the department has failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers. However it has instead hiked the power tariff without considering the plight of the people. The consumers from both town and rural areas complained of receiving inflated electricity bills. The residents urged the concerned authorities to reconsider their decision on hiking the electricity tariff to provide some relief to consumers .
Gangarhama residents demand road repair
The residents of Gangarhama locality in Ganderbal district are grappling with severe difficulties caused by the dilapidated condition of the road leading to their area. Despite being just half a mile away from the main town, the road's condition is worse than that of many underdeveloped rural areas in the district. The road is riddled with deep potholes, causing inconvenience to the people. Locals have repeatedly pleaded with the authorities to address the issue, but their requests have fallen on deaf ears. Residents fear for the safety of minors during the rainy season, as the deep potholes pose a risk of any untoward incident.
Sumbal residents ask PDD to make transformer functional
The inhabitants of Sumbal area in tehsil Gund of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have complained that a new electric transformer which was sanctioned recently is lying defunct since last several months now. Locals told Greater Kashmir that a transformer was installed in the area; however the same is lying defunct here as the concerned officials have not yet made it functional. The locals said that the transformer in the area has been lying defunct since November last year as it hasn't been charged and connected to provide electricity for the area. The locals urged the authorities to make the transformer functional so that they don't face any further problems. An official of PDD said that the transformer will be charged within a week to provide electricity to the area.
