Residents of Gandbal-Batwara appreciate authorities' efforts in finishing the construction work of the foot bridge over river Jhelum. Earlier this year, a tragic accident occurred in the area when a boat crossing the river, capsized, leaving 9 people dead and one still missing. The incident sparked hue and cry over the administrative failure of authorities as the incomplete bridge prompted locals to cross the river in boats. Now, after about 6 months, the bridge stands complete and open for public use.
