Games Light Up Srinagar: YSS launches intra-school sports carnival

Srinagar, Apr 9: Playgrounds across eight sporting zones of Srinagar sprang to life as the Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K (YSS) kicked off intra-school sports competitions on Wednesday, bringing together hundreds of enthusiastic students from government and private schools in a spirited celebration of fitness, teamwork, and youthful energy.

The sporting fest, as per a statement issued, marks a vibrant beginning to the district’s athletic calendar, igniting sportsmanship across all eight zones of the city.

From spirited track events to team sports, the competitions are designed to celebrate physical fitness while nurturing teamwork and resilience among young participants. “This isn’t just about winning medals—it’s about discovering passion, building confidence, and fostering lifelong healthy habits,” said Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K Rajinder Singh Tara.

Zone Batamaloo emerged as an early standout, with schools hosting lively opening ceremonies and students showcasing remarkable talent. “Seeing kids from all backgrounds unite through sports is heartwarming. These events are shaping tomorrow’s leaders, both on and off the field,” shared District Youth Services and Sports Officer Srinagar Gh Hassan Lone.
