Kupwara, Dec 31: The residents of Galizoo and other adjacent areas have expressed strong resentment against authorities for failing to complete the under-construction bridge in their area resulting in hardships to the inhabitants.

They said that the bridge sanctioned five years ago has been left half way.

The residents said that following repeated pleas to the successive dispensations, the bridge was sanctioned, but after a decade, only two pillars have been constructed which speaks about the callous approach of the officials at the helm.

The residents said that the bridge, once completed, can ease the hardships of people. They said that the bridge was sanctioned in 2019 with over 1 crore to be spent on its construction.

“With the completion of this bridge, it will significantly shorten the distance between several villages and help commuters reach their respective destinations in the shortest possible time,” said a local.

The bridge also leads to the sports ground located at Galizoo and players from Lolab are the worst sufferers as they are forced to take a long route to reach the ground. "Had the bridge been completed players could easily reach the ground," a cricket player Junaid from Cherkote Lolab told Greater Kashmir.

The residents said that they went from pillar to post for redressal of their genuine grievance but to no avail. Now they have sought immediate intervention of LG Manoj Sinha in this matter.
