GAD orders naming of 48 schools, colleges, roads after martyrs
Srinagar, Aug 6: The General Administration Department (GAD) on Tuesday ordered naming of 48 schools, colleges, roads, and other infrastructure after the names of martyrs and other eminent personalities of the region.
As per the GAD order, sanction has been accorded to the naming of infrastructure and assets after martyrs and eminent personalities.
As per the order, six schools have been named after martyrs and eminent personalities in Samba district while five each educational institutions have been named after martyrs in Anantnag and Jammu district.
Also, three schools and one ground have been named after martyrs in Baramulla district while four schools have been named after eminent personalities in Shopian district.
Two each assets in Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama and Udhampur districts have been also named after martyrs and eminent personalities.
Similarly three each assets have been named after martyrs in Ganderbal, Kulgam, Bandipora, Srinagar and Kathua districts.
As per the order, one school in Kishtwar district has been named after eminent personality as well.
The GAD has further ordered that the concerned Administrative Secretaries shall take immediate necessary steps including amending their records for effecting the changes.
"Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Jammu shall personally monitor the naming of the infrastructure and assets in their respective divisions," the GAD order reads.
It further reads that the concerned Deputy Commissioner (DC) shall ensure that appropriate events are held in connection with the naming of these infrastructure and assets.
