“This has bean one of the most intense matches we have seen so far, and the crowd was phenomenal,” said a senior functionary from the organising body. “The stadium was completely packed. We estimate between 7,000 and 8,000 people may have attended the match.”

He added that the turnout reflected Kashmir’s love for football, specially when local players were on the field. “People came from all across Kashmir. Many were from Sopore and Baramulla because players from those areas were part of the match. It was great to see fans from North Kashmir travelling to Srinagar for this game,” he said.

According to officials, this is the first time in recent years that a local football tournament has drawn such an overwhelming response. “After a long time, we are seeing full-capacity stands when local players are playing,” a senior J&K Sports Council official told Greater Kashmir.

The official credited the initiative to keep entry free for all fans and the improved sports infrastructure at the venue. “The Sports Council has worked hard to upgrade the stadium and make the experience better every year. Everyone is appreciating it,” he added.

“With every passing day, the crowd is growing. We hope the final will be as big as the day Mohun Bagan played against Real Kashmir here, when even the flyovers outside were packed with fans,” the official said.

As per the organisers, KSL continues to reaffirm Kashmir’s passion for football, providing a major boost to the local sports scene.
