Jammu, Mar 3: The Federation of Trade and Industry of India (FTII), led by its National President Dr Sanjay Bansal, organised the “Atmanirbhar Bharat – Swadeshi Apnao” event in Jammu, bringing together policymakers, trade leaders, entrepreneurs and members of the business community to promote indigenous industry and economic self-reliance.

The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, who addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest.

In his remarks, he underscored the importance of strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improving infrastructure and encouraging local entrepreneurship to ensure sustainable economic growth in J&K. He said that self-reliance must begin with empowering local industries and generating employment opportunities for youth.

Sunil Singhi, Chairman of the National Traders Welfare Board (NTWB), Government of India, also attended the programme. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts between traders and policymakers to advance the Swadeshi movement across the country.

J&K Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma highlighted ongoing policy reforms, industrial development initiatives and measures aimed at improving trade facilitation in the region to accelerate economic growth. Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Er Gulam Ali Khatana called for collective participation from youth and business leaders to translate the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat into tangible outcomes. Dr Sanjay Bansal reiterated FTII’s commitment to promoting economic self-reliance and supporting domestic enterprises. He said the “Swadeshi Apnao” initiative seeks to strengthen MSMEs and local industries and position Indian businesses for growth in wider markets.

Members of the FTII Core Committee, including Sanjeev Aggarwal, Sandeep Mengi, Mohit Gupta, Sudhir Mittal, Ashwani Goswami, Ajay Ahuja, Sushil Sharma, Amit Luthra, Parshant Singh and Arun Sabharwal, coordinated the event and facilitated participation from stakeholders across the business community.
