Fruit trucks stopped, spurious fertilisers supplied to attack economy: Aga Ruhullah
Shopian, Sep 16: Senior National Conference leader and Lok Sabha member Aga Syed Ruhullah on Tuesday alleged that deliberate attempts were being made to undermine Kashmir’s economy.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Fruit Mandi in south Kashmir’s Shopian town, Ruhullah said fruit-laden trucks had been frequently halted on the national highway until the produce rotted.
"Even today, when the road was reopened, traffic from Jammu was allowed to move while Kashmiri vehicles were held back", he said.
Ruhullah also alleged that spurious fertilisers, cheaper imports and frequent road closures pointed to a recurring pattern.
“A battle is being waged against our economy,” he said.
Underlining the significance of horticulture sector, Ruhullah said that horticulture and its allied sectors contribute more than 75 percent to economy.
He said that he hoped that fruit laden trucks would be allowed to move towards Jammu along national highway.
