New Delhi, Oct 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 24 reviewed the Indian Army’s operational preparedness during the Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer and his visit to the forward areas of Tanot and Laungewala in Rajasthan.

Commending the armed forces for their courage “from the icy heights of Siachen to the deserts of Rajasthan,” he said their discipline and determination form the bedrock of India’s national security. Addressing the Army Commanders, Singh described Operation Sindoor as an embodiment of India’s military prowess, moral strength, and strategic clarity ,“a symbol of the nation’s courage and restraint.” He said the operation reflected “New India’s Defence Doctrine,” which is guided by both resolve and readiness to act on its own terms against terrorism.

The Defence Minister praised the Army’s significant role in maintaining peace and fostering development in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. “The streets there are now filled with hope, not unrest,” he said, noting that the decision-making process in the Union Territory is now in the hands of local people. He lauded the willpower of soldiers serving in extreme conditions, saying, “Whether it’s the freezing icy terrain of Siachen or the scorching heat of Rajasthan, our soldiers have always demonstrated courage, adaptability, and commitment.”

During the conference, attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and senior commanders, discussions focused on Grey Zone Warfare, jointness, Aatmanirbharta, and innovation.

Rajnath Singh urged the commanders to enhance focus on defence diplomacy, information warfare, and force modernisation to build a “Future-Ready Army.” Emphasising that while technology drives modern warfare, “it’s the human spirit that delivers results,” he said India’s soldiers remain its greatest asset. He also reaffirmed that India’s border policy remains clear, dialogue will continue, but readiness will never be compromised.

During his visit, Rajnath Singh inaugurated several key initiatives, including Edge Data Centres for the Army’s Konark and Fire and Fury Corps, the Sainik Yatri Mitra app, and Equipment Helpline, and released the Defence Millet Dishes Compendium.

At Laungewala, the Defence Minister paid homage to the 1971 war heroes, inaugurated Chandpuri Hall in honour of Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, and felicitated veterans.

He also reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects and witnessed a live capability demonstration showcasing the Army’s technological advancements and modern operational formations.
