From AI to Agriculture: VC CUK urges students to drive self-reliant India

Ganderbal, Aug 15: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) marked the 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at its Tulmulla Campus, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath hoisted the National Flag.

The ceremony was attended by the Dean Academic Affairs, Deans of Schools, Heads and Coordinators of Departments, faculty, officers, staff, research scholars and students. The university’s security wing and students of the Department of Physical Education presented a march past.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Nath congratulated the nation and urged students to actively contribute to building a self-reliant India. He stressed the role of academia in fostering leadership, generating new knowledge through research, and driving innovation for economic growth. Emphasising the importance of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, he encouraged youth to explore manufacturing and agriculture to boost employment.

Prof. Nath called for converting challenges into opportunities, ensuring cleanliness and sustainability on campus, and aligning with national missions such as Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He urged students to utilise platforms like My Bharat and explore opportunities, including the Harvard Business School’s Aspiring Leadership Programme.

Expressing grief over the Chisoti cloudburst tragedy in Kishtwar, he extended condolences to the victims’ families.

At CUK’s Green Campus, the tricolour was hoisted by Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, while at Nuner Campus, Prof. Mohammad Yousuf led the ceremony.

Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Bhat conducted proceedings and proposed the vote of thanks.
