Fresh snowfall likely to delay Mughal road reopening
Rajouri, Apr 11: A fresh spell of snowfall is likely to cause a further delay of atleast one day in restoration of vital Mughal Road.
The road was earlier scheduled to get restored by Friday afternoon as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has already completed this no clearance work on road three days ago.
However, the restoration of road is getting affected due to bad weather conditions prevailing in Kashmir region.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan said that the authorities were expecting opening of road on Friday afternoon, but fresh spell of snowfall started in the afternoon hours may delay road restoration on time.
He said a thin cover of snow is once again accumulated over the road and this fresh cover of snow will be removed on Saturday morning depending on fair weather conditions, and added the decision of restoration of road will be taken thereafter.
“Due to prevailing weather conditions, the road is expected to be opened on Sunday,” he added.
