He managed to escape by jumping out of a window and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Locals said that the fire spread so rapidly that there was no time to salvage belongings.

"We lost everything in the blaze," said Bashir Ahmad, a victim.

Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the inferno, but the flames caused extensive damage, leaving the affected families homeless and devastated.

A police official  said that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The affected houses belonged to Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Shaban Bhat, and Mukthar Ahmad Bhat.

Tehsildar Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad, visited the site to assess the situation and provided immediate assistance to the displaced families.

This was the second fire incident in the district within two days.

On Tuesday night, in the remote Chekiwangam village of Noorabad, Kulgam district, four families were rendered homeless after their residential houses were reduced to ashes in a similar fire incident.

The district administration has urged residents to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the wake of winter.
