Former separatist leader joins PDP

Srinagar, Sep 01: Former separatist leader Syed Saleem Geelani today joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday in a ceremony attended by PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti.

Geelani stated that he chose PDP because it addresses the Kashmir issue and the plight of people in jails, reports KNS.

Mehbooba Mufti welcomed Geelani into the party and noted that she had proposed that Geelani run for office, but he declined, suggesting that others should be given the opportunity.

“I found no better platform than PDP. I was inspired by late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s focus on resolving the Kashmir issue and advocating for the release of people in jails,” Geelani said.
