Former MC President Sopore submits memorandum to LG on developmental commitments
Sopore, Jan 6: The former president of the Municipal Council (MC) Sopore Masrat Rasool Kar Saturday met Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha and submitted a memorandum addressing the status of developmental commitments made during the LG's visit to Baramulla.
In the memorandum, Kar thanked the LG for addressing the issues faced by the people of Sopore during the Baramulla visit.
She highlighted that several commitments made by the LG had not been executed by the field functionaries of various departments, despite allocated funds for the respective schemes.
The memorandum highlights the pending approval and act of appropriation for the establishment of a Mini-Secretariat, deemed essential for decongesting the town and improving work culture.
Kar urged the LG to consider this on a priority basis.
Concerns were raised about the stalled work on the Mahrajpora bridge and the non-initiation of work on the Mazbugh bridge and footbridge at Seerjagir Sopore.
Kar indicated that these projects are crucial for town decongestion and the development of the fruit mandi in Sopore. The memorandum highlighted the abrupt halt in the construction of the indoor games hall at Government Degree College Sopore and the Community Hall.
Kar expressed concern over the Water Supply Scheme in Sopore sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 and requested full funding for the project to ensure its timely completion. The memorandum recalled the LG's commitment to providing 5 marla of land to the landless in urban areas, seeking necessary orders to fulfill this commitment.
The department's delay in the approved works under different heads and the unfulfilled proposal for a New Bus Adda within the municipal jurisdiction of Sopore were brought to the LG's attention, urging swift action for their completion.
