New Delhi, Dec 13: Former Law Secretary Raj Kumar Goyal has been appointed as the head of the Central Information Commission while eight others, most of them former civil servants, were chosen as Information Commissioners.

The filling of vacancies came after a meeting of the Selection Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as members. At the meeting, Rahul submitted a dissent note claiming that there is no proper representation of ‘Bahujans’, a claim rebutted by the government.
