Form committee to asses damages: Tarigami
Srinagar, Apr 20: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami today demanded setting up of a committee to asses the damages caused by the hailstorm and flash floods in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to media, he said massive damage has been caused by the hailstorm and flashfloods. “Our economy solely depends on our horticulture and agriculture sectors. There are lesser government jobs. There are no factories. The hailstorm for last four days has badly hit the apple orchards. This has devastated the farmers,”he said.
CPI(M) leader demanded insurance cover for crops so that the farmers are compensated in case of losses in agriculture and horticulture sectors.
Tarigami added that the government must immediately set up committee to asses the damages caused by the hailstorm so that compensation is provided at the earliest to the affected people.
The CPI (M) leader expressed grief and shock over the loss of lives due to flash floods in Ramban and Reasi districts. He expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and demanded immediate relief to them and other affected people.
