Forged documents used for marriage assistance scheme

Rajouri, Jan 18: District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) Rajouri has detected a case of using of forged documents by an applicant for benefit under marriage assistance scheme.

It has asked the Police to take cognisance of the matter for legal action against the accused.

District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, Abdul Raheem said that the office of District Social Welfare received an application for assistance under government marriage resistance scheme.

The application was submitted by Shabina Kouser, daughter of Muhammad Sadiq resident of Daloyote in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district.

The application was submitted under the state marriage assistance scheme which is the scheme run by the government to assist screened poor families in marriage ceremony is of their daughters.

During examination of this application, DSWO said, it was found that forged documents have been submitted in application that include domicile certificate, aadhar card and ration card.

“It was found that Aadhar number on Aadhar card of applicant and on domicile certificate were mismatching,” the DSWO said.

He informed that it is mandatory for assistance under the scheme that an online application should be submitted by the applicant on designated online portal before marriage ceremony.

“It was found in this case that the applicant is already married and she submitted application for assistance after the marriage,” DSWO Rajouri said adding that it was also found that the applicant used ration card of her parents to hide her marriage.

“We have rejected the application as it is against the laid down procedure and norms whereas we have also established communication with police for necessary action into the matter and registration of a case against the used,” he further said.
