Forest Minister inaugurates Eco-Vista at Raika Jammu
Jammu, Apr 12: The inaugural ceremony of Eco-Vista was held today with great enthusiasm and participation at Raika Park Jammu.
Forest Minister Javed Ahmed Rana graced the occasion and officially inaugurated the facility with the unveiling of the commemorative stone and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
He was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Govt of J&K Shectal Nanda and Suresh Kumar Gupta, PCCF/HoFF, Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Govt of J&K, along with all HODs of the Forest Department.
The Minister inspected the Eco-Vista Museum and appreciated its thoughtful design and educational value. The Eco-Vista is designed to offer a comprehensive and interactive experience showcasing the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. The building houses three chambers, displaying 23 informative panels on various aspects of the forest ecosystem and Remote sensing technology. These exhibits cover topics such as butterflies, birds, tree species, seeds, minor forest produce, wood samples, wild animal horns, geological rocks, forest rest houses and more. The exhibits also highlight local art and crafts, regional cuisines, and key tourist spots across the UT. In addition, the Eco-Vista centre incorporates modern technologies, including remote sensing, with exhibits of rocket models and information about space agencies worldwide.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Rakesh Kumar, Director, Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing, J&K. This was followed by addresses from the PCCF and the Commissioner Secretary, who highlighted the importance of Eco-Vista in promoting environmental awareness and conservation.
They commended the Department for their foresight and vision in bringing this thoughtful venture to life. Eco-Vista is not just an educational facility; it is a beacon of awareness, a platform for knowledge and curiosity, where the wonders of nature and the wisdom of forests are passed down to future generations.
