Forest fire breaks out in Mendhar area

Poonch, Dec 17: Fire broke out at Uchaad village forest area of Mendhar in Poonch.

Officials said that fire fighters responded promptly and controlled flames to some extent while some area is still under fire.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar, Imran Rashid said that administration is on high alert due to a raging forest fire in the area.

SDM Mendhar, Imran Kataria, has also assured that the fire will be brought under control soon with the joint efforts of the Forest Department and local residents.

The fire is believed to have been caused by dry conditions and SDM Mendhar has appealed to the public to be cautious and prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.

Kataria has also emphasised that the Forest Department is fully prepared to ensure the safety of wildlife in the region.

The administration is working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent any further damage, said SDM.
