Foreign terrorist killed in Handwara encounter: Police
Kupwara, Mar 17: A foreign terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday in Krumhora Rajwar village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, while addressing the media, said that based on specific tipoff about the presence of terrorists, a cordon and search operation was launched in the area.
He said that Army’s 21 RR and CRPF also joined them in the operation, which ended with the killing of one Pakistani terrorist.
He identified the killed terrorist as Saifullah, a resident of Pakistan. "The body of the slain terrorist has been recovered. An AK-47 rifle, grenades, and other ammunition were also seized from his possession," SSP Choudhary added.
Meanwhile in a post on X, Chinar Corps of the Army wrote: "On March 12, 2025, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by @JmuKmrPolice & #IndianArmy in general area Khurmur forest, Handwara, Kupwara. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire". "Own troops effectively retaliated, resulting in neutralisation of one terrorist alongwith recovery of one AK Rifle" reads the post further.
