Football Fever: Sports Deptt’s tournament takes flight

Anantnag, July 19: The Youth Services and Sports Department’s district-level football tournament kicked off with intense and exhilarating matches in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, showcasing remarkable talent and sportsmanship among participating teams.

In a gripping opener, HSS Brakpora faced HSS Mattan, resulting in a 1-1 draw at full-time. Tahseen from Brakpora and Adnan Reyaz from Mattan were the goal scorers. Brakpora emerged victorious in the ensuing penalty shootout with a 5-4 win, advancing to the next round.

HSS Dailgam dominated their match against HSS Vessu, securing a 3-0 victory. Kifayat Manzoor of Dailgam stood out with two goals, demonstrating the team’s strength and coordination.

SRJ Khanabal triumphed over HSS Hakura with a 2-0 scoreline, thanks to goals from Danish and Faizan. Their teamwork and strategy were evident throughout the game.

The day’s first semifinal saw SRJ Khanabal securing a decisive 3-0 win against HSS Arwani. Faizan, Ikhlas, and Majid each contributed a goal, propelling their team to the tournament final.
