Food grain-laden truck catches fire near Batote

Ramban, July 11: A food grain laden truck caught fire due to a short circuit at Janghi Morh area of Batote on old alignment of Jammu Srinagar National Highway Thursday afternoon.

Police sources said a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-8393 carrying consignment of FCI, food grains (rice) towards Doda from Jammu caught fire due to a short circuit in the cabin of the vehicle.

As soon as the driver of the truck Suresh Kumar Sharma is saw flames emitting out of the engine parked the vehicle alongside the road and jumped out of the vehicle and informed Police.

The truck was loaded with FCI ration and was heading to Doda when it caught fire due to an electric short circuit in wiring.

On getting information, the Police and Fire and Emergency services Department from Batote reached the spot and doused the fire.

No casualty or injury was reported, however vehicles suffered extensive damages. They said several sacks of rice were destroyed.

SHO Police Station Batote, Inspector Vikram Parihar confirmed the incident and said no casualty or injury to anyone was reported in this incident.
