Food establishments operating under insanitary conditions face penal action in Kangan

Kangan, May 29: A team of the Food Safety Department Ganderbal on Wednesday conducted a market check in the main market Kangan of Ganderbal district.

A checking squad headed by Food Safety Officer Kangan, Fayaz Ahmad, inspected various food business establishments especially restaurants and Dhabas of main market Kangan and its adjoining areas.

During inspection two food business operators were fined each Rs 1000 on spot for not adhering to the proper hygiene and sanitation needed under schedule 4 of Food Safety & Standards Act-2006, Rules & Regulations-2011.

An official said that further two legal samples of prepared food were lifted for laboratory analysis for detection of synthetic food colour and taste enhancer (MSG).
