Anantnag, Sep 14: National Conference (NC) Vice President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should focus on the deteriorating security situation in J&K instead of dynastic politics.

Talking to reporters in south Kashmir's Anantnag district where he addressed a public rally, Abdullah said, “PM could not claim any success against fighting violence in J&K. Hardly any part of Jammu region remains untouched by the impact and influence of violence.”

He said that 24 hours had not passed since two soldiers including an officer were killed in Kishtwar and another encounter was underway in north Kashmir.

“The PM could say anything, he could not claim that he had achieved any significant success in fighting violence,” Abdullah said in response to a question regarding the PM’s remarks in Doda.

He said that the PM should speak about the current security situation in J&K instead of talking about dynasty politics.

The former chief minister criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not having a single Muslim minister in its cabinet.

“BJP could not find a single competent Muslim among 17.22 crore Muslims whom they could make a minister,” he said.

“BJP is only misleading people and it will go back once the election results are announced,” Abdullah said.

Upbraiding the PM for holding traditional political parties responsible for the situation in Kashmir, he said that when the BJP needed support from these parties, they were not held responsible for ruining J&K.

“Barely 5 or 6 years ago, BJP and PDP were in an alliance and at that time they did not find any fault in PDP. And when Vajpayee Ji made me a minister, there was no flaw in me,” Abdullah said.

He said that after elections if BJP falls short of numbers to form a govt and PDP comes to their rescue, they would not find any fault in them again.

“These are political speeches, which are forgotten after elections,” Abdullah said.
