The water level in the Rambiara and Romshi streams rose sharply, flooding villages and washing away structures. A bridge at Karachpari in Shopian district was swept away by the swollen Rambiara, cutting connectivity for local residents,  said a group of distraught residents from the area.

Shopian police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), aided by local volunteers, carried out a rescue operation along the Rambiara stream. Several nomadic families and around 350 sheep were trapped after a sudden rise in water levels cut off their temporary shelters. “The operation was successful, and all the families and livestock were moved to safety,” a police spokesman said.
