Floods caused heavy losses in Kupwara: Ravinder Raina
Srinagar, May 2: J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina today said that the people of Kupwara district have suffered huge losses due to floods and that he will take up matter with Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha for rehabilitation of the affected people.
Ravinder Raina, undertook a comprehensive tour of flood-prone areas in Handwara, Kupwara, and Lolab in district Kupwara to assess the impact of the relentless rains causing a flood-like situation.
Accompanied by District President Javid Qureshi and other BJP officials, Raina visited several villages, including Nallah Pohru, Chogal, Braripora, Neelipora Magam, Kalaroose, Trehgam Warsun, and Kachihama Village Of Trehgam, to evaluate the situation first-hand and review the evacuation measures in place.
“The floods have caused huge losses and visited every effected village and homes across Kupwara district,” he said adding that at some places floods have entered the residential houses. “ We appeal LG administration to help them,” he said.
BJP President said that he will take up matter with LG Manoj Sinha. “ I assure that administration will help the people,” he added.
The incessant rains have triggered fears of flooding in these areas, prompting Raina to direct the concerned departments to remain on high alert and mobilize resources to tackle any potential emergency.
He emphasised the need for proactive measures and close coordination among departments to ensure timely rescue and rehabilitation of affected residents.
During his visit, Raina also urged the public to exercise caution and avoid venturing near water bodies and Nallahs. He encouraged them to contact the district or Tehsil level control rooms in case of emergencies and assured them of the government’s full support in addressing their needs.
In addition to assessing the flood situation, Raina visited several villages in the Trehgam Constituency, including Kachihama and Warsun, to gauge the impact of the floods and assess the needs of the affected residents. He assured them of the government’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance and support in their time of need.
