Ramban, Nov 2: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, will visit Chisoti village in Padder tehsil of Kishtwar district on Monday to lay the foundation stone of a housing project aimed at rehabilitating families affected by the recent floods in the region, official sources said.

The visit underscores the administration’s continued commitment to ensuring timely relief and long-term rehabilitation for people whose homes and livelihoods were severely impacted by flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains earlier this year.

According to official sources, the Lieutenant Governor will inaugurate the comprehensive housing initiative designed to provide permanent shelter units equipped with essential amenities for the displaced families. The project is being implemented under a special rehabilitation and reconstruction package coordinated by the district administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and other concerned agencies.

During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor is also expected to interact with local residents, panchayat representatives and officers from various departments to review the overall progress of ongoing development projects in the remote Padder sub-division.

He is likely to issue directions for expediting pending works and ensuring that benefits of government welfare schemes reach the last mile.

District officials have made elaborate arrangements for the visit, including security, transport, and public facilitation measures. The administration has also emphasised that this housing project marks a significant step toward rebuilding lives and restoring normalcy in flood-affected areas of Kishtwar district.

The upcoming event is being seen as part of the government’s broader focus on inclusive development, disaster resilience and equitable infrastructure growth in the hilly and far-flung regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
