Flight with 227 passengers onboard makes emergency landing at Srinagar airport
Srinagar, May 21: A flight with 227 passengers onboard made an emergency landing at Srinagar Airport on Wednesday.
Officials at the Srinagar Airport told GNS that flight from a particular airlines, enroute Delhi-Srinagar, experienced bad weather—hailstorm— and the pilot concerned reported the emergency to Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar.
Later the flight landed safely at Srinagar at 1830 hours, they said.
“All Aircrew and passengers are safe and flight has been declared AOG (Aircraft on Ground) by Airline,” they added.
In a statement, the airline said: “IndiGo flight 6E 2142 operating from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar. The airport team attended to the customers after arrival of aircraft prioritizing their wellbeing and comfort. The aircraft will be released post necessary inspection and maintenance”.
