Flash floods in Kangan

Kangan, Aug 15: An intense brief spell of rain on Thursday triggered flash floods in some areas of Kangan in Ganderbal district.

Locals said that the heavy showers caused flash floods in Hassanabad and adjoining areas besides causing water logging in main market Kangan.

They said that the water entered several residential houses and also damaged agricultural fields and crops.

Locals said that the failed drainage system resulted in the flash floods in the area, adding that this had become a routine now that whenever there was rainfall, the area was flooded.

The locals as well as shopkeepers in main market Kangan urged the administration to improve the drainage system and take measures to prevent such incidents.
